£150k compensation - failure to diagnose perforated bowel
Boyes Turner's medical negligence lawyers recovered £150k in compensation for a 60 year old man in relation to the death of his wife. His wife was admitted to hospital by ambulance as an emergency with severe abdominal pain. She had a perforated bowel but it was not diagnosed by the hospital. As a result she went into septic shock and sadly died two days after her admission to hospital, aged 57 years.
Boyes Turner's medical negligence lawyers obtained supportive expert evidence from a Professor of Surgery, who was critical of the hospital's failure to diagnose the perforated bowel. A significant claim was made on behalf of the estate for loss of dependency and loss of earnings/pension.
A settlement figure of £150k was negotiated by Boyes Turner’s medical negligence lawyers following the commencement of formal Court proceedings against the defendant hospital. Our legal team negotiated the settlement of £150k despite an initial offer from the hospital of £100k. There was no cost to our client in bringing the claim.
