Compensation for mother whose baby was still born as a result of hospital staff negligence
Our medical negligence lawyers advised a mother whose baby was still born at Barnet & Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust.
The still birth followed an induction of labour where it was alleged that the mother was over medicated which led to uterine hyperstimulation/hypertonia.
In addition, she was inadequately monitored ny hospital staff throughout the induction period which meant that staff failed to identify the baby's fetal distress and hypoxia due to the over stimulation.
Despite overwhelming evidence of negligence, and an invitation to make an early admission of this neglilgence, the case was unnecessarily prolonged by the hospital and court proceedings had to be issued and served.
Following commencement of court proceedings the hospital accepted to pay our client £25k in compensation for the negligence.
