Negligent surgery claim - surgeon removed wrong lump
Boyes Turner's medical negligence lawyers recovered £8.5k in compensation for a 42 year old woman after a mistake during a surgical procedure to remove a non-cancerous lump from her breast meant she had to undergo a 2nd operation and also left her with unnecessary scarring.
Shortly after the procedure she noticed that the lump was still in her breast and that the incision site was more central on her breast than the site of the lump which should have been removed. It became apparent that the surgeon had removed the wrong lump.
As a result, she had to undergo a further operation under general anaesthetic to remove the correct lump. She now has a larger and more prominent scar on her breast as a result of the surgeon's mistake.
She took advice from Boyes Turner’s medical negligence lawyers and a compensation claim was brought against the hospital which admitted that they had provided substandard care. Boyes Turner’s lawyers negotiated £8.5k to settle the negligent surgery claim.
The claim was settled just under 8 months from the date she first contacted Boyes Turner.
There was no cost to her in bringing the claim.
