Negligent Royal Berks A&E staff failed to diagnose man's testicular torsion - £15k compensation
Boyes Turner's medical negligence lawyers acted for a 19 year old man who suffered a testicular torsion after experienceing acute debilitating pain in his left lower abdomen whilst playing football.
He was taken to Accident & Emergency at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading but his testicles and scrotum were not examined and he was discharged with analgesia.
When he re-presented to his GP two days later, the testicular torsion was diagnosed but it was too late to treat him and he underwent orchidectomy. The man's fertility was not affected and a prosthesis enabled any cosmetic problems to be relieved.
Court proceedings were brought against the Hospital and following settlement negotiations the man was awarded £15k in medical negligence compensation.
