Compensation for man who sustained a nasty burn during the course of a medical procedure
Boyes Turner medical negligence lawyers recovered £7.5k in compensation for a 30 year old man who suffered a nasty burn on his forearm following an arthroscopy procedure to investigate his wrist joint.
When he came round after the procedure, he noticed that he had sustained a triangular shaped burn, which was approximately 5cm x 5cm x 5cm in size. No feasible explanation was given by the hospital trust regarding how he had come to have the burn. The burn took approximately 6 months to heal and he is left with a large scar on his forearm, which causes him embarrassment.
He took advice from Boyes Turner’s medical negligence lawyers and a compensation claim was brought against the hospital trust. A letter of claim was sent to the hospital by the medical negligence team, following which liability was admitted. A settlement figure of £7.5k was reached shortly afterwards.
