Compensation for man whose ruptured tendon went undiagnosed by Nevill Hall Hospital staff
A 27 year old man received £5,5k in compensation against Nevill Hall Hospital under Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust for failing to diagnose tendon damage to his thumb.
Our client cut his thumb deeply with a Stanley knife whilst at work and the hospital merely cleaned and steri-stripped the wound but did not explore it.
Had the wound been explored, the partial cut to the tendon would have been found and could have been conservatively managed.
As this was not done, the tendon ruptured necessitating surgical repair.
Our client has been left with a residual weakness and unable to extend his thumb fully.
The medical claim settled within nine months without the requirement of medical evidence.
